March 11, 2002 - Elections were held at the March 11th KMCA meeting for treasurer and for five Directors to serve on the Executive Committee.  Click here for the results.

Traffic Island Beautification - Complete!

     A small but hard-working group of volunteers turned out on October 7th and 14th to clean up the traffic island.  A few returned again on November 4th to plant flowers and shrubs in front of the newly installed sign.  
Thanks to Amy Yendall (amyyendall@msn.com) for coordinating this effort.

July 18th, 2001 - KMCA treasurer resigns - Read his open letter to the membership.  KMCA Vice President Richard Soskin will be serving as interim treasurer.

May 23rd, 2001 - KMCA Election - The election was held at 7:30 PM at Lee MS Cafeteria.  Over 300 members cast their votes.  The winners were: Ben Dayanim, President - Richard Soskin, Vice President - Jack Rutner, Treasurer, and Dawn Felsen, Recording Secretary.  Click here for the vote totals

Archived Neighborhood Events

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal - Montgomery County has announced dates and locations for collection of household hazardous waste in 2002.  Don't put hazardous materials like old car batteries, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent bulbs, or pesticides in the regular trash.  Two of the collections in our area will be - Silver Spring in March and Briggs Chaney in May.  [ More information from the DPWT web site ]

Boys 1st-5th grade!  Cub Scout Pack 771 Needs YOU! - Come to the "Join Scouting Roundup" at Kemp Mill Elementary School on September 13th.  [ More Information ]

Northwood Tributary Stream Restoration Project - The County Department of Environmental Protection held an informative stream walk along the Northwood Tributary on Wednesday August 15th, 2001.  The Northwood tributary runs along Hillsboro Drive and past the ends of Winona Court and Northwood Terrace.  

While on this walk residents saw several areas where there had been recent illegal dumping of yard waste and illegal clearing of woodlands.  You can report illegal dumping you see by calling 240-777-DUMP.
