Minutes

1.    Review of minutes from past general and executive committee meeting - approved

2.    Reports

a.    Treasurer – $2647.89 with $40 additional in dues to be credited

b.    Library – the Executive Committee approved a motion to eliminate this committee

c. Parks – no major updates.  The Rafferty Center is going to be returned to the developer as the county has no plans for it.

4.    Upcoming meeting [added after meeting: Monday, August 30, 2010; 7:30 PM]

a.    Agenda items:

i. Candidates meeting – *Lenett and Manno (State Senate), *Sam Arora, *Bonnie Cullison, *Hoan Dang, *Jay Hutchins, *Ben Kramer, *Vivian Scretchen, Linn Rivera (House of Delegates) will be invited to give extremely brief presentations and answer questions [*confimed as of 7/11]

ii.  WSSC – Rebekah will see if someone is available to make a presentation about the completed and planned work          

iii. Police – Rebekah will ask Commander Nancy Demme about sending a representative to the upcoming meeting.

iv.  Washington Gas – ask about a ‘winterize your home’ presentation, if available

v. Leaf Collection – invite the head of that division

b.    Publicity –

i. Rebekah will start working on a single annual newsletter, with Mel Plotinsky

ii.  Jay will see about replacement signs

iii.  Cynthia will continue to send notices to the Gazette and will forward notices for the Jewish community weekly newsletter

iii.    Microphones – Jay will borrow from Gail Javitt

 

1.        New business –

a.   there are two Board vacancies, as David and Henry have resigned.  Rebekah will check the bylaws and arrange for new elections.  The group agreed to look for candidates.  Jay agreed to step up to be Vice-President.

b.  Paving – Rebekah will inquire about the purpose, extent and timing of the (very welcome) repaving that is going on.
