General Meeting Committee ReportsLibrary – Most if not all of the County Council members have asserted their opposition to moving the library from its current location. The Committee will continue to monitor status of proposed renovations to the facility. Parks – Renovation of Kemp Mill Urban Park has been delayed to evaluate how plans will fit the goal of making parks more “sustainable.” The geese in the park continue to be a problem. Treasurer – KMCA is still solvent. Transportation – WSSC is patching up roads affected by sewer/water line repairs. The roads in the neighborhood are scheduled to be resurfaced over the next several months. Northwood – Chesapeake Bay Trail ProjectJennifer Chambers and a Northwood student described a project to develop a trail along State Highway property adjacent to the school. Northwood students removed trash, removed invasive species, and built a trail to be used by students and the community. The official opening of the trail is Saturday, June 5th. County Councilwoman Duchy TrachtenbergCouncilwoman Trachtenberg described the status of the county’s budget process for the next fiscal year, and how the current crisis developed. She noted that during the years of high property-tax revenues, the county expanded services to a level unsustainable for the long term. One of Ms. Trachtenberg’s staff members took note of community complaints regarding the schedule for leaf collection and “triaging” of snow removal. State Delegate Roger MannoMr. Manno provided some updates on activity in the state legislature, and noted that the budget issues the county is experiencing are also having an impact at the state level. Minute respectfully submitted,
